A Fantastic Week

Wow! What a great week or two we’ve had here! Our performances at the Daniel Brantley Foundation went pretty well (the second show, particularly), and, when we got home, we had guests. We love to have guests, here, and this past week we’ve had lots.

But then, who wouldn’t like to have guests that are dear friends who have come to help get things done around the farm? The girls helped me in the kitchen, and the fellows worked outside on the fence, in the dairy kitchen, on the bridge, with the cows, etc. What an encouragement to have all those eager hands! And, during their stay here, we had several angus/Jersey cross calves, all of which had to be tagged and banded ASAP. So, rather than getting help from us sisters, Kyle got to take some much more able-bodied men out to get the job done. Thanks, y’all! Then, it was back to work again until dark, coming inside only at meal times.

Meanwhile, back at HQ, my faithful culinary sidekicks and I spent hours on our much-loved work of baking cookies, cleaning the kitchen, doing laundry, making snacks, cleaning the kitchen, doing laundry, making lunch, cleaning the kitchen, doing laundry, baking cookies, cleaning the kitchen, doing laundry, making supper, cleaning the kitchen, and so forth. Though a rather repetitive and undeniably tiring cycle of life, we had a blast. And though, now, I have a good deal more elbow room in the kitchen, I find I’m really REALLY missing my afore-mentioned sidekicks, as well as one particular bundle of joy who hasn’t been read “Doctor Dan the Bandage Man” in nearly three days. 😦 May be I should call him and read it to him over the phone… Hmmm…

But, speaking of HQ, I’d better get in there and see what I can do about lunch.

Over and out.
