So, I see I haven’t posted in… a long time. Sorry! Here’s an upate, complete with recent fiddle tunes, piano tunes, and sketches.
This past Saturday afternoon, we went to the Daniel Brantley Foundation (a foundation to help children that have cancer – founded by my fiddle teacher, Mr. Brantley, whose son died of cancer a few years ago). They had three bluegrass bands play and, in between band times, they did an auction (highly entertaining!). The first band was Tom Brantley and Friends – they are always fantastic! The second was Big Country Bluegrass. And the third was the all-of-a-sudden-famous group Dailey & Vincent, “starring” Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent (Rhonda Vincent’s brother). I had a blast! Dailey & Vincent were incredible. Mr. Brantley is working on booking them for next year’s concert. So, y’all come!
All right. Moving on. The gardens are coming in hard and fast! We have lots of butternut squash, tomatoes, okra, peppers (assorted types), carrots, corn, basil, cilantro, cow peas, cucumbers and probably a bunch of stuff that I’m forgetting. We’ve canned carrot relish, pickle relish, tomatoes, krout, green beans, etc. and we’re going to freeze corn today.
Lately, on the piano, I’ve been working on an arrangement of Ode to Joy, and one of Fairest Lord Jesus. I’ve also worked on composing a few songs of my own. One is sort of in the Swing genre, and I don’t know about some of the others. They sound more like they ought to be off of a movie soundtrack, or something.
For the fiddle, I’ve worked on Make a Little Boat, Ducks on the Mill Pond and a hornpipe medly that Mr. Brantley and I put together consisting of Fisher’s Hornpipe, Ricket’s Hornpipe and Staunton Island Hornpipe.
Here are the more recent sketches of mine. Most have Edwardian/Victorian style influence. I’ve been working on figuring out a pattern for an Edwardian outfit. The first two pictures are some that I drew in trying to visualize what I really want to sew. The second is most like what I’m going for.

This last on is my most recent. Of the three, it’s my favorite.
I’d better go now. The freezing process has begun.

Claire,
Your drawings are so beautiful! I can tell every picture is better and better. Keep up the good work!
Love,
Camille
